Strengthen Your Mind

December 13, 2007

I have been receiving emails from a friend and it’s sad to
hear that she’s not feeling good about things at the moment. In this life, it’s understandable and
sometimes can’t be avoided that we feel that way. Sometimes whether we like it or not we tend
to let others affect our feelings. Unfortunately, I have felt and let myself be a slave of that kind of
spirit, very low. And sadly, not only I and my
friend but others I know of have done and doing the same thing. So now I speak from experience…..

We all know that the saying goes, “Action speaks louder than
words” but that’s not the case to a lot of us, is it? It became more like
“Words speak louder than action”…apparently.

But believe me when I say that if only you just shut your
mouth and act instead; don’t try but DO strengthen your thoughts, your mind to
remain calm because when you are able to do that, it helps, big time, in your
life’s stability. Just think how much
energy you are wasting whenever you let yourself get affected by the negative
attitude of people around you. And think
how much you can accomplish when you remain calm and peaceful, (To hell with
them, right?!) rather than fluctuating up one minute then down the next. You have to learn and understand that the
same amount of energy you’ve wasted losing your happiness and going down will,
likely, double just to get yourself back again.

When you are able to calm yourself down, you’ll see that you
are not only saving energy but also your mind will be filled with strength and
become stable. And when you accomplish
that and you learn control and keep it up, you become more mature in your
decision-making. So don’t let any
negative things/thoughts or negative attitude of anybody affect you because I know that
you are all smarter than that.

It’s hard, things are hard, life is hard but we can also
make them all beautiful. And if you think I’m not making sense here then, well……… to hell with you! Hahaha! Just Joking…
gotta smile at the end somehow, right?

Nora out!

Crocheting

December 7, 2007

I was first introduced into crocheting when I was a kid.  My mama used to crochet a lot and I was her lil assistant, I’d hold the yarn while she did her crochet and I’d ask her annoying questions.  Then came high school and craft projects.  Of course, that was all gone the moment I stepped in college and all I did was study, work and party! LOL

-

When I came here in Canada, my first year was absolutely boring, especially when Helena started goin’ to school; not to mention the problems I had.  So I thought to myself, "Well, hey Nora, quit slacking and do something productive!" So what can a mommy do when she’s left alone at home (aside reading, internetting and cleaning)? She goes to Michael’s, buys a skein of yarn, crochet sets then gets to crafting.

-

The very first one I had was a little funny cuz I was just trying to remember what I’ve learned then I kept trying.  I crocheted a scarf for Helena and Mike and I made one for Mike’s mom when she arrived.  Of course, it didn’t last long, I stopped.

-

But just last month, I am back to crocheting and much better! I told my 2 sister-in-laws, Kazuyo and Sally, I will teach them how to crochet so we can all crochet together during our "Ladies Night" and they agreed.  Now we all have our own projects and I never thought it would be so much fun.

-
Aside from the hat and scarf I made for Mike’s dad which I’ve given to him, here are Whitescarfthe ones I finished so far:
Colouredwinterscarf
Greenfallscarf
Adultscarfsea_1 RedhatadultBabyhat

My next projects:

a sweater and socks for Wyatt, I just finished his mittens; socks, mittens and slippers, and a cardigan for Helena and a hat and a scarf for my sister.

-

Hopefully I can finish them before Christmas. (crossing Redhat_1
my fingers, lol)
